The Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) is a Mexican criminal group that emerged as a splinter group of the Milenio Cartel – one of the Sinaloa Cartel’s allies – after the capture of its leader in 2009 led to internal divisions.
The real problem lies in how well infiltrated they are. They have people inside all levels of government and law-enforcement. Also, they know the terrain inside and out thoroughly and they usually operate with multiple security rings and it is nearly impossible for a large scale attack to be successful.
Initially, the group operated as an armed wing of the Sinaloa Cartel. As part of this alliance, it engaged in a deadly turf war against Los Zetas in Veracruz state, where the group stood out for its use of violence and involvement in numerous massacres.
So one will say, It’s one thing to dress up as a soldier but these guys aren’t trained and battle hardened like army troops and simply look like posers, but the truth is, many Mexican army deserters are in their ranks. There’s even a tip of whole cartel of army deserters: Los Zetas. Many Americans fear that the cartel is who’s running their border security.
CJNG now headed by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, one of the world’s most-wanted drug lords wield a massive stockpile of weapons many of which are smuggled and presence said to be are all over Mexico, 8 US states, Australia, and South America. They have have been linked with operations in France, Spain, The U.K., Italy, and the Balkans.
The CJNG cartels has been recently accused of taking a helicopter down where 4 soldiers lost their lives. Sadly, elections in Mexico are in June, as always when the country is close to elections, the cartels start incessant attacks so the new president will be obligated to negotiate something just to bring peace back.
This cartel boasts of no credentials yet they’re so organized, they might as well be apartheid. Mexican Drug Lords have learned long ago money buys nice things. Can also buy them effective mercenaries. Kidnappings, randsom, drugs, selling guns, getting people to infiltrate other countries like the USA yields so much profit for them.
On the afternoon of 11th September 2023, Mexican special forces from SEDENA conducted a kill or capture operation in the Tequila-Amatitán region of Jalisco, Mexico. The plaza boss of the CJNG in Tequila was killed during the military assault.
In August 2022, Mexican Army units were deployed throughout the state of Baja California to restore order after members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) carried out simultaneous attacks in the cities of Tijuana, Rosarito, Mexicali, and Tecate.
Mexican military have always engaged in furious fights and capturing several members of this cartel (Jalisco New Generation Cartel) but like terrorist organizations in other parts of the world, they are never entirely wiped out. They always recoup and wage comebacks.
