Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra is actually safe to take if you follow the directives properly. It is used to temporarily treat erectile dysfunction and related male sexual performance issue. While it helps you temporarily maintain an erection, it does not cure erectile dysfunction. Recently, Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone analysed a handful of bitters popular among Nigerians and exported to Sierra Leone including Olekoko Akson bitter, Oga Abeg, Good Time Natural Herbal formula and Cocoa samba and found out that it contains a staggering 193mg of Sildenafil.
NAFDAC, the Nigeria regulatory body for food and drugs had earlier warned of cocoa samba particularly after seizure by the German customs upon entry into the country by a Nigerian.
Sadly, no Nigerian made bitters declares sildenafil on their container or label despite almost containing almost twice the recommended dosage. It is also worthy to note that sildenafil acts differently in the presence of alcohol.
It’s crucial for individuals to be aware of the potential risks associated with consuming certain herbal or sexual enhancement products, especially when they may contain undisclosed ingredients like sildenafil. It’s always wise to prioritize safety and consult healthcare professionals before trying any new supplements or remedies.
Itβs therefore surprising how NAFDAC certifies these products and their supplies,
